Social gerontology studies the causes of ageing populations and its economic, psychological and social consequences, both at the level of human groups and at the level of individuals, during the second half of their lives.
The material and moral condition, the social status, the role, the influence of ageing or elderly individuals, the transformation of these aspects, the adaptation of individuals and society to this transformation, are the main subjects of study in this branch of the humanities.
If the demand exists, it will be possible to accompany local, public or private structures in their reflection in this field. to find and refine the elements which could be useful to develop projects or programmes which would concern the care of the elderly.
